Running bad, then no spark

Hello everyone. I drive a 1985 4Runner with a 22re.

This all began with performance issues. It was rough idling, low power on acceleration, it misfired once or twice. Figured it was timing issue. Timing was more or less fine with a timing gun. Got a visual on the timing chain. Everything at top dead center looked fine. I foolishly assumed it must be the ignition coil without really thinking much of it. So I replaced it. After that, now I get no spark. I can smell gas as I crank the engine so my injectors and fuel pump work.

Been racking my brain for days trying to figure out what the hell is going on.

Do you have your old ignition coil?

If so, put it back in and see if you get spark.

If not, post back up here and we can help you diagnose the no-spark problem.

What's the status of your distributor's rotor? Ever changed it?
