Sorry to mess with a thread so old, but I just put a gasket set windshield in my '90 truck if your still looking too? the glue in windshield for that year is a 598, it has the same bend as the gasket set 623 but the 598 is about a half inch wider and taller than the 623 because the chrome trim doesn't take up as much space as the gasket. but as long as you have the parts (gasket and 623, or glue and 598) either one will fit.
SOME '89-'91 trucks had gasket style windshields. I believe the low-end 2WD single cabs sported them. The cab has a different style lip, and the windshields are different.
This is a critical question for those (like me) with the rubber gasket made for Hilux trucks (1984-88) or 1st gen 4Runners! Please, somebody who has made this conversion, from stock metal clips and glue-in type FW471 windshields let us know....

Thanks!
I've searched high and low and cannot find ANYONE who has made a stock 471 work. And don't look to Rick at TOYHEAD for any help.
My auto glass guy made one work, but basically had to glue it in place anyways. I would love to find out what windshield is being used overseas with these gaskets as well.

Frankly, I think the whole problem has come about because people (including and maybe especially Rick at Toyhead) are selling the gaskets and creating the (unsubstantiated) impression that the gaskets will actually work.
I have checked about every source, forum, Facebook page, etc. I can think of looking for anyone who can tell me what combination of glass and vehicle will actually work and have come up empty.
Like I said, I feel like I wasted my money. I am going to an installer this week to have a windshield glued in.
PS I would delighted to be wrong. Somebody who disagrees, please set me straight!

I use to sell the gaskets as well , but stopped due to the windshields fw471 being a different size then the OE windshield .
It can be done , but you have to grind the windshield . ~1/8" - 1/4" on right side and lower of corner of the shield . usually an installer of residential glass will have the wet grinder needed .
I still install them , but only in my shop !
