Check out this thread about the steel marlin uses vs it's competitors. Which I'm almost positive they just mean trail gear.

Although it might seem like BS, I completely agree with the test results. On my last 4runner I ran Marlin Bumpers and trail-gear sliders. They were both the same wall thickness DOM, but my trail gear sliders dented up much worse than my Marlin bumpers. YMMV

Both are good products, and I prefer to support people that deal with their customers in a proper way. Just my thoughts.

Maybe a bit off topic, but Marlin rarely has stuff in stock, in my experience.
I would prefer to get things from smaller vendors to show my support to the little guy, but when I need something I don't want to wait a month...
