quick question

Whats up with the small plate with two bolts on the head of the 22re? It's opposite the distributor. Mines leaking a bit of oil. Can I just make a gasket for it or what? tHaNkS

sounds like where the fuel pump would be on the 22r, the re IIRC had a block plate there. Maybe a new gasket?

Yeah, I think I'll just make a gasket for it. I just didn't want to take it off and screw something up. I figured it had something to do with earlier motors. My 4runner is an early 85 with a 22re and I have seen a newer 22re that doesn't have anything there.

Yup fuel pump blockoff plate. The gasket is less than $5 from the dealership. Carefully clean off all traces of the old gasket from both the plate and the head before installing new gasket.
