Put on some headlight grilles.

Put on some new Dick Cepek lights.

Went and played on the beach and in the river a little bit...

Well, it has been some time and I feel as if I have abandoned the forums... I have graduated from college, gone threw my fair share of vehicles during the build, and am still building the truck.

The truck as is sits is in a very stationary state at the moment, and has been for over 3 months. (due to $$$ issues with lay offs and such with work)

The trucks overall plan for the build has only gotten bigger from the last "plan" stated a few posts ago by me.

The Motor/trany/t-case:
SBC 350 rebuilt, with a good sized cam, alum. intake, shorty headers, Holly 600 carb. Turbo 350 Trany with new filter and fluid, also adding shift kit. Chevy 205 t-case.....

Suspention:
Chevy 63s FRONT AND BACK, (here the pics will be nice) I have extended the front of the frame 6" out, (3x6 1/4 wall) added a 2x4 under that, that adds 2 more inches (also 1/4 wall) some loooong shackels in front (aproch angle means nothing to me because all im doing is mud running, I live in IOWA.. lol) Then the chevy 63s..... The front leafs are set right at 31.5" center to center so I will not have re-do any perches on the front axle, it will set righ under it the way it sits. REAR-the 63s on the out side of the frame to help stable the truck on the roads just a bit. used the stock chevt spring hangers front and back here with it chackeled in the rear as it should be with the same long shackels.
I know the 63s front & back are realy rare and not realy needed but I just want to say im one of only a hand full that have done it. lol. that and i should have some crazy articulation for being leafs front and rear. not that its needed, but I will get more and more into other types of wheeling once I get board of playing in the mud. So it will be nice.

Axles/Wheels/Tires:
I ditched the chevy half tons....after thining about it, what would have been the point of going full size with an axle thats weaker then the Yotas?.... I now am going 8 lug GM 10 bolt front, and 14-bolt rear. 4"10 gears, manual lock outs up front and sigle steeing stablizer. disk front drum rear but am planning on going disk rear in the future. Wheels I have now are some Alum. Amercan Racing Out Law IIs 16.5x9.75 Tires are 36x14.5x16.5 old school tread I picked up for $50 just for some rollers.... 2 of them are like 25% tread the other 2 are like 5%ish.... Planning on buying some 44x18x15 on 8 lug steel wheels from a guy the end of November for around $500... around 50% tread. Should be decent looking and ad some much wanted ground clearance with the pumpkins.

The body:
I moved the rear axle 4.5" forward. I will be bobbing the front and rear of the box to center the wheel wells over the tread and shortening the frame 6-8"s for better deparcher angles, I'v drug the rear down little hills before all of this down in the woods just getting to mud holes. The front fenders will be cut along with the rear quarters for tire clearance issues if ever the tires comes up up into them.

Well that sums up the plan, now to get it done. I WILL POST PICS AS SOON AS I CAN.

Been busy with the Yota for a while now. Figured I would post a couple pics of how it sits now. Im far from finished. Re-doing some front suspention and still need to do alot of little stuff here and there. (shocks, brake lines, radiator, bobbing box, gas tank, frame suports, drive shafts, etc etc etc...)

Corp. 10 bolt 8 lug front axle

SORRY FOR THE SIZE

Now lets not judge people....I know the chrome is crazy on this mud truck but I use what I have laying around. lol. I actually just finished up putting the radiator and hoses on today....

You can see where vaccume lines, heater hoses, and such all run from these 2 pics.

Water pump pully bolts/studs...Had to cut off what little was sticking past the nuts for clearance...have about an inch or so.

Pic form drivers side, bottem of motor, threw wheel well. About 1 and 1/4" from the fire wall. HEI. Notice no denting required.

Pic #2 from pass side top...

here you can see how much room the block hugger headers give, the solid 2x4 motor mounts, and plated inside of frame....

here you can see the start of a great grille stich job....o wait, I mean the radiator.... THIS CLEARS PEOPLE! haha. Belive it or not, I cut a little of the under hood support and the radiator clears with about 1/2" everywhere when the hood is shut.

Even notched the radiator support just a tad bit to bring it away from the waterpump pully. 1982 Dodge Ram250 radiator...Fits.

Hope these are of some help to some of you that may be considering a 350 swap... Im always open for suggestions as well.

nice build! i have considered doing a 350 swap in my 95 4runner and i was worried about the fit. are you going to run an electric fan in front of the radiator? i was planning on swapping in a R150F as well but that is going to require my tranny mounts to move back which in turn is going to require custom drive shafts. and those block hugger headers are the answer to my header/frame clearance question. it looks like those motor mounts you have are a good fit did you just make them?

Thanks. Yea im running 2 10" fans in front of the radiator. I also have a trany cooler on the back side of it too. The motor mounts are 2x4 1/4 wall steel tubing. Just drilled a hole threw them for the bolts and welded them to the plated frame. Ill post some more pics of a few things in a bit for any other questions you may be wondering about...

Some more pics.....Again, SORRY ABOUT THE SIZE.

Lifting rear left. 39"s off ground. (checking for shock mount locations etc)

Now lifting front right. 38.5"s with no rubbing in any wheel wells.

I now have the motor in and running as well. Sounds great open headers.
