possible vaccum leak

i am new here but have a problem with my truck i was hoping somone could please help. i have an 85 toyota with a 22re. My problem is that after i swapped out the head i started to get a loud clicking sound so i figured it was an air leak. i traced it back to an a/c sensor mounted on the valve cover. thinking it was bad i replaced it but i still have the sound and a crappy idle. the vaccume lines are hooked up correctly and if i turn on the a/c the revs kick up and the noise goes away. so what should i do is it an elec issue please help. thanks

crap.
Sorry, missed the part about the a/c.

I'd say replace all hoses pertaining to the a/c system. See a FSM for details.

well i checked all the hoses and if i pinch the one going to the a/c plug on the top of the valve covers the noise stops. but i checked the hose and the way the hoses are routed and it is all correct.

where does the hose go? I'm thinking thats your problem that its allowing the hose to suck air when the a/c is not on.

it goes from the a/c thing on to the side of the throttle body. it is a plastic screw with a spring on it. that probably makes nop sense so i will take a picture of it and post it tomorrow.
