My '85 I just bought for $500, wouldnt start, owner had put a new headgasket and timing set on it. 1st and 3rd gear were gone, but the frame was in decent shape. Oh yeah, and it has a wooden bed... Oh well, at least its a nice one, will be replaced with a steel flatbed soon.

I had a great running '91 but its frame was in sad shape. While off roading one day, the passenger side torsion bar mount collapsed. I welded it back on, but there wasnt much left of the passenger frame rail. So I decided to buy a new truck and part this one out. At first I wanted another IFS truck so I could use all my cool parts, and have alot of spare parts. After some research I found alot of the IFS parts work on the older SAS trucks, and only make the SAS trucks a little better.... (Crossover steering, front hubs, brakes, etc.)

I quickly tracked down a good used locker installed in a third member, and a lift. I went ahead and started pulling the engine apart, timing looked perfect... Yet it cranked and sounded like the cam was 180 out. Very little compression, so I pulled the head. Bad cracking in two cylinders, and a badly bent intake valve in a third. After laying a straight edge on it, there was a bad warp to the head. I slapped a good head on, and the engine fired right up. Then I stabbed my '91s transmission in. (Along with my swampers...)

Getting ready now to pick up steel and tubing for the new bed... And possibly a homebrew stinger. As well as installing the locker and the lift. Hopefully we will be ready for alot of fun this year!

For now it runs and drives great, has a hedman header on a 22R. I dont notice any difference between driving this and the '91 with a 22RE, so thats a good thing.

snapped these in the sun today after polishing the rims and painting the sliders, frame, and rear bumper in the last couple days. If it nice tomorrow I am going to herculine the sliders and bumpers.
I had the door open in the pirst few pictures and there are some waterspots on the sliders and bumper cause it poured last night

heres the most recent pic of my 85 that i have...used it to pull my 88 backwards, so i have enough room to push it forward to the right, withought hitting my garage, so i could roll it down a hill and pop start it.

Picked up some 35X15.50's mainly bought them for the rims. But they look GOOD! Tread is thin, but hey, I wanted to see what it would look like!

And I painted in the old painted over decals on the hood. I dont think these were the factory colors.... But they certainly are Toyota appropriate colors!

Hey guys, I just picked up my 85 4runner a few weeks agoe. It needed a trans as well as some other things here and there. Been working the search button and it has been alot of help.

Those are just a few pics I snapped of the truck when I picked it up, Once I get her up and running I'll take some better ones.

I wasn't looking for a red truck but I kinda lke the two tone paint job. Don't worry about the steps, they are coming off lol.
It was already on the truck when I picked it up. The visor fits well but it is mounted with these nasty self tapping bolts. One more thing to fix. Tomorrow I'll take a look and see if I can't see a brand name or part # on it for ya.
