you got that in Canada? what did you pay for it dollars wise? It looks like
it just rolled off a dearlership. Also, I am curious; is that a standard tranny or auto? I ask because you were tripping on the gas mileage? what are you getting thereabouts? I just popped a solid 20 mpgs, on my sr5, 4 cyl, 4x4, with a standard tranny 5speed, mixed driving....

I paid 3500canadian a little high but there arent too many around here so you take what you can get. With our population we just dont have the amount or variety you guys have. The pics do look good but believe me there are a few spots peppered throughout.Dont mind too much as this is a long term thing for me.Am going to go fiberglass all round when the time comes.Even if i replace everything it is still a great truck that not many people have and less expensive than a new alternative.

Hi all, maybe not as wild as some of you. I also don't have a lot of experience with 4x4's yet, so this is my first attempt. I am doing another rebuild as we speak though.

My 85 Toy 4x4

My story may be a little different than most. My parents bought me an 85 Toy 4x4 Ext Cab p/u brand new when i was 16. We kept for about 4 years, lifted it up with 8" suspension springs, blew the engine, lowered it and shortly later sold it.
After 20+ years, I started trying to track it down to see if I could buy it back(if I found it). It took me about a year to find the truck, and another year or so to convince the guy to sell it back to me. Luckily truck had been torn apart and stored in his dad's garage for the last 15 or so years, so very little to no rust on the truck anywhere.
Truck has 14" springs in front and back with a 3" body lift and came with a set of 44''s on it. Love the look, but now working on restoring it and looking to lower it down to 33's. Currently has 35's on it(I traded for the 44's that were worn out).
If anyone is looking for some 8" springs, I still have them and needing to sell.
Will probably be selling the 14" springs once I get them off.
Anyone got any recommendations on what to use, lift wise to run 33's, or 35's if I decide to leave them on ?
Here are some pics of the life(so far) of my truck.

That thing is a MONSTER!! If you don't like the look of a truck with the tires filling the fenders and want some space, you could run the 8" springs with the 35's, remove the body lift and maybe get shorter shackles. Wouldn't look to bad. If you want it lower, I would suggest some Marlin 4" or 5" springs with the 35's. 33's are nice, but personally, I prefer the look and function of 35s...

Good Luck with it!!

Sold my jeep and bought a TOYOTA

Bought this truck back in March 2010. Lots of work to do ! Ran great when I drove here home. One day I started her up and no oil pressure....DAMM. Oil pump bypass valve stuck , engine now has a bad knock, still runs but I am going to replace the engine. Found a great engine builder here in Nor Cal to do the job. Should be installed sometime in July.

Interior was wasted. All torn out now and new going in this week. I hope to have her done by winter. Will keep the build posted.
