Outer Hub Gear Getting Stuck in Lock Position

So I just recently did an SAS on my 87 so I'm at the point where I'm chasing down loose ends and little problems. One of those problems is that when I lock my hubs they lock but when I turn to free the gear doesn't retract from the inner gear. They are in an IFS hub body so I have the new chromoly inner conversion gear and I upgraded the outer to chromoly at the same time. I am 100% certain I assembled the pawl assembly right as everything is still holding together.

That outer hub gear just isn't pulling back out into the free position and I was wondering if they maybe just need to wear in a bit or if anybody else has encountered this?

Just keep an eye on the small bearing and spring, don't loose them.

Hey,
I’m not sure if this will solve it but this video by Wheelie Pete on YouTube (no affiliation) shows how to assemble the outer hub dial. I guess if you get the spring put on wrong it’ll lock but won’t unlock.

Hope this helps.
