noise from front end

When turning and when going over hard bumps the front end has a clunk. It's on a 85 4runner. It just recently stated when i had to loosen the u bolts on the leaf springs to take off my rock sliders so i can change the oil. It only does it when i am almost at full steer and i tightened my drag link a half a turn and it does it less. Should i do it another half a turn or will it damage it. I was going to go wheeling tomorrow just lightly but i don't want to break it. i have a 3 inch lift and a stock drag link i am going to replace it with one later what one should i get that is under 100 or maybe a little over. Also when i am driving the passenger side makes a clunk noise to but it has always done this and the rotor is bent a little and the truck pulls in random ways when i break really hard but i can manage that till i can afford a new rotor. Is there a possibility that its not the rotor the pads look new. I just got the truck a month ago for $800 with a running engine with a stage one cam and a off road header. so i want to no if i can go and wheel by just tightening the drag link.

Clunk from where on the front end?

You had to loosen the U bolts on the leaf springs to take off your rock sliders?

To change the oil? What?

Sounds like you loosened something up and didn't tighten it back.

So you want us to tell you it is okay to go wheeling if you tighten the drag link back up?

Your thought progession is all jumbled up. Try to stick to one problem at a time as it is hard to decifer your post.

Yes, the drag link should move back and forth when you turn the steering wheel. But no otherwise.

yea the rock sliders are the lower u bolt plate for the leaf spring. There is no hole in the rock sliders to loosen the drain plug bolt so i had to take them off. I want to no if putting more tension on the springs in the drag link will break something. i realized that the driver side leaf spring u bolts where loose so i tightened them back up.and the only thing i loosened to get the rock slider off was the passenger side u bolts. i tightened the drag link up 1 full turn from where it was and then i didn't here the clunk i think (only drove it around the block) but then i loosened it up because i don't no if it will damage it if i tighten it to much.

Rock slider attached to the u bolt plate for the leaf spring? Are you talking about a skid plate by chance?

Be interesting to see some pictures of exactly what you are talking about.

Tighten it on up. If it breaks, fix it.

ok, its just a plate that goes under the axles so rocks don't hit them.

Are you be talking about changing the diff oil?? cause if your axle armor is blocking getting to the bottom of the engine theres WAY too much metal under there. lol

The U-bolts like to loosen over time after you take them off and fiddle with them. I did a block lift in september, and i needed to tighten it twice, once in early december and again in jan. I could tell the bolts were loose because my over load spring started movin out. lol. so just keep an eye on em.
