newb q: 85 4Runner to Pickup conversion?

Here's a question for those of you who have done it or heard about it:

Can I swap the cab and box from a pickup truck onto an 85 4Runner?

I really want/need a pickup truck, and have come across a 22RE 4Runner with a somewhat ratty body.

Do the body mounts line up? I'd need to swap the box over as well, and in the (very distant) future, consider a flat bed conversion.

Planned mods:
lockers, tires, small lift for bigger tires, armour, etc etc.

I spoze I could drive the 4Runner around, but hauling messy stuff in a pickup truck would be much easier. Ideally, I'd find a nice non-lifted 4WD pickup with fuel injection, but I've spend a few months searching, and none have come up.

Thanks!

edit: ooops, meant to post in 85 Trucks/Runners

iirc, the body mounts do NOT line up. But I am not sure. Search on here for cab swaps, I know in a thread they have discussed the difference in Body mounts. You could also just measure them ona pickup and 4Runner, and see how close they are.

I think the front 2 pair of body/cab mounts will line up, but the 3rd pair will likely need to be moved. Then the 8 bed mounts for the pickup will all have to be added.

i dunno about making a 4runner into a pickup but here is something i found a while ago with a standard PU cab with the bed of a 4runner on it. Im guessing the frame has to be the same in order to do this. Not to sure about the body mounts though.

we're tlaking about all of this, but of course...a 4runner missing a back seat, and with the top off.....IS pretty much a pickup... lol.

Yes, but I live in Vancouver, BC. The rain capital of Canada, so I need a weatherproof cab. Preferrably a king cab, so just running topless is not really an option.

Thanks for the other responses so far, it sounds like work, but do-able? Will a cherry picker handle the weight of a cab?

YES. A cherry picker can handle the weight of a cab. Myself plus two friends handled the weight of a cab all the way through a junkyard. They're pretty light.

BUT, if you use a cherry picker... I wouldn't suggest picking the cab up from the roof. The roof is a very fragile design and can't be pulled by that. But wait a sec... do cherry pickers even jack up that high?!?!! If you do a cab swap, all you need are a couple of able-bodied pals.

Personally, I would consider simplypv's offer. I believe he mentioned his truck being an Xtra cab? There's your ticket right there... lol but then again let me personally say that the "Xtra cab" doesn't quite live up to its name

I'd hate to see a 4Runner become a pickup... I'm a big fan of 4Runners and there are plenty of pickups 'round here. But, its all you buddy.
