new to me 84 with leaf?

Just bought a stock 84 to be my DD. I've got most of the bugs worked out, but I need new springs. The rear are all right and I was thinking an add a leaf would get me back to stock height and probably a little more and would match up ok with new front springs. Does anyone have any imput on specific brands of leafs? Cheaper the better.

Congrats on the buy. I would like an 84 or 85.
Search the vendors section, or the threads ( leaf spring ) will suffice.
ADD A LEAF WILL GET YOU THERE BUT NOT IMPROVE YOUR RIDE.

Good luck on your build.

Yes they can improve your ride. I had a saggy 88 and put the AAL in and it was a new truck. The reason is that the main leaf sags causing you to ride on the overload springs (tough). The (long)AAL will put all the weight back on the main and AAL thus making for a much softer ride.

Thanks for the reply, I think I'm just going to go with a rough country lift with rear springs. Found a kit for 400 with shocks and bushings, is that a pretty good deal or could I do better?

Pretty excited about the new truck, very little rust. First long bed i've seen in a while with the factory bed still intact. I'll be posting pictures as soon as things slow down.

I paid $125.oo each for leaves and $35.oo each for shocks, then bought shackles ($20.oo) and bushings ($35-$40.oo). Hope it helps.

Will the add a leafs gain you back to stock height? I just bought a '84 4runner on christmas eve, and its sagging badly. I'm trying to go cheap for the time being!
