I found out it needs a new clutch master cylinder. The fluid was low so I decided to take a look under the vinyl floor on the firewall. Sure enough there was brake fluid under there, damn cheap parts. I also painted that passenger side tire flat black so it looks a little better, I know its ghetto. The more I drive this thing the more I like it.

You probably never see the straight axle skidplate because every billy bob takes it off thinking that it somehow makes it better (by exposing the oil pan and accessories to intruding objects). I have only seen one in person.

I lucked out when I got my 86, in the fact it came with the factory ifs skid plate (another thing that gets taken off and lost alot), and the lower valance that covers the front of the frame.

Every SFA Toyota I have purchased has had an OEM skidplate...so I got a collection of them in the shop.

I live near the Rubicon, so almost all the straight axle ones I see are close to destroyed (like they have been rolled a bunch of times). Its probably also the reason why I couldn't find a clean one.

I think you got a great deal on that, the body is in nice shape.

As a side note, I had a boni-fide SFA\EFI '85 with a valance that only had one hook indentation. I'm not saying it wasn't modded at some point, but I doubt it.

As of right now its not for sale. If anything I will sell my other 85 and just keep this one.

Nice and clean. The rarest part about that truck is that it doesn't have rust on the fenders. Those chrome rust makers that toyota put on the 4runners can do some damage, even in non rust prone states.

Found an odd issue with the runner. I'm not sure if it was doing this when I bought it and didn't notice it but when I step on the brakes the dash lights up and the front marker lights come on.

I haven't really driven it at night till today so I'm not sure if it has been doing this the whole time.

Oh well one more thing to fix tomorrow.

Well my suspicions were correct. There was some sketchy looking trailer wiring I removed and no more dash lights with the brake lights. I'm glad thats all it was.

No, that gray 4runner was just a truck I bought for parts. Theres pretty much nothing left of it other then the shell.
