Nice truck!!
I was lucky enough to get my DD 85 for free from my brother-in-law. He told me that it rode really rough and didn't go very fast so he was "over it". I was so stoked that day all I wanted to tell him was how rare that truck was, but just said that I agrred it was slow and did ride bumpy
I wish I had it when I began my build on my Rubicon truck, but oh well!

ok so been busy and finally found some time to work on this rig.
we got another yota the other day. 84 single cab with no bed, 2" spring lift and a 2003 4.3 vortec v6 with auto tranny, harness, ecu, advanced adapters adapter to a toyota gear t case. it was a project truck and still had to have everything done. but not bad for $400.
so we took that motor and put it in this truck.

cleared the frame to fit the factory headers. used 1/4" wall 4" pipe sections to replace the sections of the frame i removed then plated with 3/8" for more stregnth

how the shifters will look until i put a boot on there.

1.75" body lift and a little fire wall clearancing under the accelerator petal for the tranny corner to fit

-t-case crossmember installed
-drivelines hooked up
-taurus e-fan mounted into oe toyota plastic shroud and crescent moon gap filled with alum plate

haha, sorry my question wasnt up to your standards. but considering my 85 runner paint is in that same condition as his when he picked it up. i am curious because it looks great and i want to use it on mine. i am kinda in the same boat with my 85. however, i can only work on mine a couple hours a week and am not to the point where i am working on the suspension and motor. i am working on the interior and exterior prior to the other work (considering i work full time, go to school full time, and do bio-research full time i felt that asking superfluous questions that i will not employ immediately would have been a waste of time and would have been forgotten anyway. i could either ask him later in a pm or the like). just like he waxed his prior to motor and suspension work... you shouldnt make fun when you dont know the situation.

Good grief dude, sounds like you need some rubbing compound and then wax. Depending on how deep your oxidation is, you may not even need rubbing compound.
My 84 was oxidized pretty bad and I just used Turtle Wax and an orbital buffer, available at Walmart. It made it shine. Then I roughed it up with some 400 grit sandpaper and rattle canned it. It'll be pro painted soon enough.
I wasnt picking on your comment. It was a joke, ha-ha...
This is a forum and we tend to have fun here. I dont know your situation, but it seems like a lot of fun.
Love the truck that was the topic of this thread!! Excellent work!!
