I have had my share of winging it/hope it turns out well, (see: ex-wife) :pat:
I am not real concerned with the body work at this point, but I do want the frame/cage & future mods/fab to be done right so I will have to learn as I go, and learning to weld is a must. This site has been the biggest help.

Welding is easy...doing it well takes practice, practice and more practice. At our shop if a guy doesn't use the skill he gets certified in in a six month period...he has to retake the test. If you don't take the time to learn the basics and then just have at it and practice...you'll never just "get it". Welding only comes through determination and effort...and it doesn't happen overnight.
I learned over 20 years ago and I'm just now back at the point where I feel comfortable welding anything I want to (carbon steel that is). I want to learn to TIG sometime soon.
A tech school class would be a good start cause you'll have the structure for the practice and get the basics.

thanks! I kinda like it. I have a long way to go before I get it where I want it, but I am patient & learning too, so I can get it right.

Got bored today so I decided to change the look of the rims. They were chrome and had rusted in spots, and just looked like crap. So I unbolted one, sanded all the rust off & primed it for paint. After primer, I painted it gloss black, with clearcoat. It came out really nice, so I will do the other three tomorrow. Sorry no pics, my camera is acting up again.
