I'm struggling to find a clean - rust and Bondo-free - 4wd bed. Makes sense though - the bed is the first part to rust and 4wd trucks are the ones worth repairing/restoring. There are however lots (relatively speaking) 2wd beds out there. Seems once a 275,000 mile 2wd truck dies, it makes more sense to part it out than rebuild the engine, etc. Not completely ruling out fiberglass, but the one guy making them has a two-year lead time. So... actually, yeah - ruling out fiberglass.
I want to compare the 4wd and 2wd beds - to see if I can make a 2wd work, e.g. enlarging the wheel openings. I know there a few more variables - Rolled lip, a.k.a. Canadian or Japanese spec and Fleetside, a.k.a. U.S., California, Smooth beds; large vs small flares... I'm most interested in the X and Y dimensions. If one or two of you guys could pull a tape, it'd be a huge help. Once I have the measurements, I'll repost the graphic with numbers... you know, for the next guy trying to figure out the subtle differences in these beds.
Thanks!

Not anymore. Currently, I'm all in on the flatbed. I ended up with a decent 4wd bed - needs some rust repair and paint - but it's shelved (literally) for now. For a while I thought the easiest route would be finding a clean 2wd bed and reworking the fenders. But, it'd likely be a wash - rust repair vs. custom metal work. And, the repaired 4wd bed would be "real" and help it bring huge money bringatrailer.com ;-)

Bite your tongue!! Mini trucks are great things regardless of the ground height.
I quit reading there, best of luck on your future endeavors.
