makeshift tool box / bed enclosure?

Anyone ever made a custom bed enclosure? I am looking to make something for my 4runner that serves a couple purposes.

1. To cover things from prying eyes like: spare tire, VIAIR compressor and tank, hi-lift, etc. etc...

2. Help prevent weather from entering my truck when the top is off.

3. Provide drawers under some sections of the top for: tools, extra fluids, etc. etc...

I am looking for ideas, though I have a general idea of what I want. I am going to take some measurements after I grab some grub and draw a rough draft.

The other purpose of this is to get rid of the cheap interior pieces in the bed of the 4runner because they aren't staying very well anyway. So this will be a fairly large, stout piece.

Thanks for any input,

Hayes

Alright, got the measurements.

This is the general idea of what I am thinking:
Overall dimensions.

I do have a few concerns. First being the overall weight of this ordeal. It would have to be fairly stout, thick wood. Second being the feasibility of taking this out if needed or accesing things with the top on.

Any opinions are greatly appreciated, as well as any modifications.

I was also thinking of only making half of the bed into a storage compartment.

here's what i did. not as big as your scheme, but it serves the purpose pretty well. you could easily find a larger cargo box.

Does your box stay down well? How hard would it be too...up and run away?

it stays down real well. i tugged on it pretty good and it will not come out without producing a hernia (probably not even then). you could get it out with a sawzall, but thats about it.
