Anyone know what this is?

Also another great surprise, the car won't start this morning. I take the battery out to give it a charge because during crank the voltage seemed pretty low on the gauge in the dash. I get the batt out and clean the terminal and the dirt off of it and it's a damn marine battery in the truck.

I understand that it's not gonna be a race car, but it should have more power than it does right now. From my understanding anyways. I'm replacing some things and am going to do a compression check on it and see what the results are. It doesn't appear to be burning oil which is good.

btw, thanks for identifying that as a/c associated.

I put a new battery in the truck and it definitely starts a lot better now.

I am also gonna put some new spark plugs in it. I read on here that the fac gap is .028, but .032 is what's recommended.

One more thing, does anyone know what the voltage should be on the gauge when the car is running? Mine seems a bit high at about 16.5v.

Things done today:

plug wires
coil wires
spark plugs (gapped .032)
rotor
dist. cap
air filter
seafoam
carb cleaner
new battery
and a lot of cleaning in the engine bay

didn't have time for the compression check today

Any suggestions on more things to do, i just got the truck. Any mods that will give it some more power to get up hills on the freeway at higher speeds that are fairly cheap?

Basically, I want the truck to be a dd, but also to be capable of some decent off roading (snow, some mud, all around kinda stuff). What do you guys recommend.

the reading on the gauge is irrelavent. you should have around 14.3-14.7 at the battery, although high 13's is acceptable. So, test the battery voltage and look at the gauge.

I have an 88 22re (EFI) and can keep 75 on flat ground, up to about a 1% grade, have to hit 4th to maintain 70 on a 2-4% grade and 3rd to keep 65 on a 5-7% grade. This is stock gears and 31's. So you don't sound that far off.

your temp gauge reading "does" have me wondering though. is it full of coolant? have you considered replacing the thermostat (it sounds stuck to me)? that could contribute to a loss of power.

yeah, i'm going to be checking the thermostat here real soon. I didn't have time today. The coolant is at the full mark on the reservoir.

Also is there a sending unit for the oil pressure that links the the gauge in the cluster? If so is it near the oil filter? My oil pressure gauge does not work at all, there must be oil pressure otherwise the engine would be seized already. Thanks again for all the great help you all have been.

I think I am going to be getting a new thermostat.

I have a 22r engine and I believe the truck is an SR5, it has the sr5 cluster and a/c, dig clock etc...

The guy at NAPA said they had two thermostats for the 1985 22r, a 180 and 195. He said stack was 180. What do you guys recommend?

A couple more mystery pictures in need of identification. I'd look at the fuse box one myself, but the stickers are gone on the top of them.

On this, what is the empty green plug (the one on the right of the two plugs)

It appears there are three things missing in the fuse box. The two fuses on the left side and the one in the bottom right. Anyone know what these fuses are for?

That green plug just looks like some kind of emissions thing.
I'd think that if any important fuses were missing some of the electrical just wouldn't work.
Does the heater work? I'm pretty sure if the thermostats broke, the heater won't work.

yeah the heater sucked. It may have gotten luke warm at the best. I'm waiting for the gasket seal stuff to set up before I start up the truck before I test it out. Unless that stuff doesn't need to be completely setup.

That is still not setup. It's been like 3 hrs. It is a little cold out in my garage though. Hopefully it will be good to for tomorrow's work. Next items on the list

fix the tach
fix oil pressure reading
