Loosing power when check engine comes on
Has this ever happen to anyone?
Every time the check engine light comes on my 85 pick up losses power and takes off really slow.
any help is greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

When the check engine light comes on the computer goes into a "limp home" fail-safe mode where it uses programed fuel maps and sensor data tables to keep the engine running without the use of sensors. If the cooling fan/s are computer controlled they also kick on just to make sure that the engine doesn't overheat. At least its still drivable like that.
