locker up front???

will it make highway driving difficult if i put a locker up front? what are some problems some of you have had. i already have a rear locker and want to know if it is worth putting one in the front because i still need to be able to drive on the street.

It will not affect your on-road driving as long as you have part-time 4wd, manual hubs, and/or ADD. It can make steering on high-traction surfaces while off-road very difficult though, such as slick-rock or even packed dirt. Also possible you will more readily break CV's, unless it is a selectable locker. A more conservative option might be to get a front limited slip instead.

x2, if you have automatic hubs, don't do it. If you have manual hubs, git r dun. Just remember to unlock your hubs before you street drive

If you have manual hubs I'd do it.
Even if you don't I'd still do it but I'm crazy like that. Without manual hubs, driving in the rain and snow will be a huge bitch.

So the hubs would need to be unlocked to turn tightly on high traction surfaces, not just putting it in 2wd?

Unless you REALLY offroad you DON'T run a locker up front, unless its something like the ARB.
It sucks driving w/the front locked on icy roads. Locker in the rear, no steering issues, is a better investment.
BTW - I've got detroit lockers frt and rr on my 85 Suburban.

Yes, you'll wanna unlock your hubs if you're doing much driving on hi traction. Not that 2wd doesn't allow you to turn but the joints get hammered.

My truck came welded front and rear, so what i have found, if you have manual hubs its not noticeable when unlocked, otherwise a complete workout. if you just put it in 2wd with the hubs locked turning is a workout. Now if you get any locker like a aussie, lockright, etc. twinstick your tcase. Put the one stick in 2wd and leave the other stick in low or high, this will let the front receive no power, which wont lock the locker
