IT LIVES!! Headgasket/Bearings/New Head

Blew my headgasket a few months ago, finally got things back together and fired her up tonight!

Got a new/used head. 84 Heads ain't cheap and aren't easy to find either. My old one was too thin and didn't want to use a shim. Had serious blowby issues as well so I De-glazed the cylinder walls and re-ringed with Cast Iron rings because the Rock Auto ones I used 25000 miles ago never seated properly. Also put in new connecting rod bearings. Fired her up and have minimal blowby at idle and a slight vacuum when above idle!

Got lots of LC gear to go into her this round with a new 38mm weber carb to feed her. guess we'll see what happens when she fires! i'm tryin LC's high torque cam (500+) lift w/ the dual spring kit! Anyways good job on gettr runnin' , hope she breathes lots of fire!

Thanks! Drove around for about 30min last night breaking it in, runs great! I'm using a EB 268 cam and Weber 32/36. Wasn't too stoked about having to tear into it after only 25000 on the last rebuild. If the headgasket hadn't blown I would have torn into it anyways to replace those damn rings. There is a thread on here by "TrainwreckedinSeattle" and those Rock Auto rings, so I talked with my machinist and decided on Iron ones. Won't last as long, but considering the mileage I do, should be about oh say.....16 years before I would have to re-ring again! Good luck with your rebuild, hope this one turns out better than the previous ones.

I don't know about anybody else but my compression with those rock rings is right at 170psi. this was after 6000-6500 miles.
