let talk about engines

So hear we go im trying to decide which engine will give me more power in my 2x4. The 22r carb or the 22re efi. Keeping in mind that if i use a 22re in my 75 yota i will not have half the sensors such as . Speed sensor and others . And if i go with a 22r carb i will not use stock ignitor but the MSD 6A module and a vac advance distributor. So what do ya think carb or efi.
Thanks Jeff Mc

For a simple setup I would go with a 22r rebuilt with a Weber 38/38 carb, Engbldr 268 cam, pacesetter header, and base timing set at about 7 to 8 degrees.

I vote keep it stock, honestly. Not worth it in the end for how much you would gain. If you want to go faster, take the cash it would cost you to swap in either of those engines and buy an old beater sports car.

I got it running had to wire up the ecm as whoever miss wired it. But has poor performance. So i was thinking about taking it back to a 22r and get rid of ecm anfd the trouble codes i keep getting

If you already have it set up for EFI and you just need to freshen up the top and bottom ends...it's a no brainer, keep the EFI.

without all the sensors hooked up it may never leave warm up mode. which shouldnt hurt the moter it will just cost fuel economy and always run rich. but if your swapping in the efi why not swap in the other componets so you have all the sensors or get an aftermarket stand alone computer to run the efi. if your good with electronics i know some guys that had good luck with the megasquirt system on subarus and they even swapped in distbuterless ignition systems also which was suppose to really wake them up.

If you already have an efi motor swapped in, keep it for sure. Go through the sensors one by one and make sure they're all hooked up properly, there are wiring diagrams in the FSM to help you.
