Just picked up a new toy today.

84 runner, 22r, a little over 200k, 5 speed, $1800! Everything works great, for now. It has a chevy 3 core radiator in it that's a little high for the hood to close all the way. If you guys have any suggestions on a replacement radiator that might be better than stock, let me know. If I remeber correctly my old truck ran a bit hot with the stocker in there. Other than that I'm just going to go through it and make sure everything works and use it for what its made for. Let me know what you think. Cheers all!

Very nice find and a great deal. maybe with a slight twist of the radiator hoses you could lower your radiator mounts slightly to gain that little bit of clearance you need.

I have to look a little closer at the bottom side and see if its hung up anywhere. I could probably fab up some L brackets to drop it down. I only need maybe an inch. I drove her home 40 miles though and she purred all the way. Stoked right now.

He said it was running a little hot and his buddy had this 3 core laying around in the garage so they put in to run a little more fluid and extra cooling. I wasn't sure how efficient the stock ones were or if I should get a oversized one from LC or other company.

I could just measure it and go to the junkyard and pull anything that was bigger as long as the upper water hose was on the left. What are your thoughts? Stock radiator and electric fans?

I really, really wish I lived in California.
Smog laws suck soo bad, but finding a rust free 24 year old car is nice.

get the 22re turbo radiator, its 3 core and fits in the stock location on the 22re. you can get them online from places like radiator.com and radiator barn.

Thanks for the info! I was looking at the turbo radiator or reading the specs on rad barn and the state the inlet and outlet are on the same side. Does that seem right? There are no real pics on those sites, just cartoons that seem in-accurate/generic. They do have some heavy duty 3 cores for my truck for a couple bucks more. What do you think about those? If someone has pics of a turbo radiator? I'll be searching. Im itching to start ripping into this thing.

Edit: So I found a pic of DIRTCO's new turbo project, and it looks to be passenger side top inlet. I hope thats stock. I would hate to order something and have it be wrong. Can I get a confirmation?

i got the 3 core radiator, i think it was radiator.com, they match up perfect. some of the aftermarket 3 core radiators will have have extra nipples on it to hook up the tranny cooler.

On a 22R(E) the inlet shoud be top passengerside, and the outlet on the driverside bottom.

damn way clean! you got a great deal on it too.
imo it would look better with black side mirrors, bumper, and rearview mirror.

Thats seems to be the norm. Just got to look out for the xtra nipple for tranny cooler. Thanx.

I was thinking about rhino lining everything, besides the actual body, black, even the top. Body has a pretty pearl re-spray. What do you think? Im all about the blacked out vader mobile.

I dig the 2wd grill! I've been thinking of putting one on my 84, also. As for the radiator, I'd just lower that one. You can ditch the shroud, if necessary, it'll run fine.

That was my first option. The shroud is gone. Its a pretty big radiator but I'll go out there and look at it again today and try to come up with something. I'll post some pics of engine bay too.
