Thanks

My friend has been a really big help, letting me use his shop and tools for the bumpers and sliders. Having access to a bender is nice when you need it.

Finally put a dent in the body, while on the trail this weekend I had someone back into my truck, denting this very same spot about 4 months ago. The trails were pretty slick with all the rain we have had. Kept sliding left as I was crawling up a ledge. I didn't notice this rock until after I had hit it, and drove past it. Looked back and saw my tail light swinging by the wires.

I also put a small dent in the front passenger fender, I was told the only possible line out of this trail was to hug this tree, and drive up along the bank of the hill. I wasn't able to hold the line tight enough without avoiding the tree. Took a lot of careful spotting and slowing working the truck back and forth. I eventually got past the pile of rocks, only to get hung up again, and needed to have someone winch me forward a foot or so.

Damn. That sucks. You seem to be taking it pretty good though. I have never gotten over putting a dent into my truck. It made me realize immediately that I am not one of those people that wear body damage with pride.

^Im with you man, my body isn't perfect but i like it to stay as straight as possible. I put the side panel into a tree last year, luckily it was pretty gentle but i was still bummed.

My truck had a All Pro front hanger on it when I bought the truck. I should have moved my steering box forward more then I did... But since I did not, I ended up drilling my spring perches 1.75" forward to keep the axle back with the new springs. My main reason for going ruf, was to fix my front shackle angles. The All Pro hanger was installed 1" forward of stock. This put my shackles at almost 90°.

My front drive shaft is from Dave'z Offroad Performance. It has a ton of slip and will take a lot of abuse. I think its the best drive shaft on the market for our trucks.

I knew once I started wheeling, that I would need to be able to laugh about a dent. I have a lot more fun wheeling on those hard trails, and I know dents are a risk I take.

I do my best to keep my body straight as well. I've been impressed that I have wheeled this truck as much as I have so far, and it took this long to dent the body.

I will do my best to pound this dent out. And the entire truck will be repainted this summer yet. And after I have it repainted, touchup on little spots should be easier as I will have extra paint left over for small repairs.

Time for another update... falling behind on things

I picked up a used 12v compressor this summer and installed OBA.

Then I picked up some LED rock lights from Off Road Only.

My drivers side floor pan was rusted out, I had a sheet of 22 gauge steel welded over it for most of the summer as a temp fix. This weekend I finally cut the rust out and fixed it the right way with some 16 gauge steel.

And today I redid some wiring. I was not happy with the stack of ring terminals on my positive battery terminal. It looked like a rats nest under the hood.

I picked up this battery terminal from Autozone. It takes 2 4gauge wires and 2 8gauge wires. The first large wire is the positive battery cable. The second one runs to my new fuse box on the passenger kick panel. I have one 8 gauge wire running to my 12v air compressor, and the other is for the under hood fuse box.

I ordered a bluesea fuse box, after reading up on fuse box options online. I decided to go with the 6 circuit panel with a common ground. I still need to run some of the ground wires, I have a big stack of them under the radio trim.

Decided to order a set of PRP recliners for my truck after riding in a set of Corbuea baja's last fall. I called up Kevin at Method motor sports and he helped walk me through all the options. They even special ordered one of the colors for me in Codura.

Here are a few pictures from when I installed them. They look a million times better then the old ratty stock seats.

looks good. Is the seat cushion in a more upright position than the stock seats? That in itself should make it more comfortable. How is the lumbar on those?
I am asking because I am dealing with some serious low back issues right now, and I am not even driving mine until I heal. I might have to do a seat swap or have mine redone and I am looking for options. thanks for posting

Well I have been a bit busy, bought my first house a couple months ago. Finally getting settled in, and had some time to work on the 4runner again. I didn't have much seat time in it after installing the seats, as I also bought a f-150 since I would need something to move with. The 4runner is no longer a daily driver, but still driven to the trails.

I have taken a couple of longer trips in it recently, and the seats are really nice on the trails. At first I was getting lower back pain with them, but now they seam to be just fine on the road, even after 3 hours. It might have been from going from one style of seat to another?

Anyways, now that I got a garage to call my own, so I finally installed some used leaf springs I picked up over a year ago. They are used 5" all pro springs that I had dearched locally at a spring shop. I need to get some longer shackles, but I am happy with the new ride height in the back. I am going wheeling next weekend, and will see how well the new setup works.

Here are a couple garage shots to go with it

The workbench is now on a steel frame, still getting settled in and getting the garage dialed in.

Congrats on the home purchase. That is a huge garage, but I am sure you can fill it up with projects and tools.

Can i ask about the brackets you used on that rear bumper you fabricated? I am fabbing one of my own and noticed you said you "got" your bumper mounting brackets, where can I get them or did you fab them also? If you fabbed them can you show your solidworks drawing for them also? Thanks!
