horn wire 1985 RE 22

I disconnected the horn wire on my 85 pickup in preparation for pulling the steering wheel. When I went to reconnect it, I couldn't find the male spade connector! I guess it's on a wire that is spring loaded? Is it in the steering wheel or column? Where do I find it? I never pulled the steering wheel off yet so do I need to do that to find the dang horn wire? Help! Thanks!

I think I'm in a similar position as the OP here. Except my horn at one time worked, but very intermittently.
I figured it was the contact issue and removed the outer cover/pad. The pic shows what I found, actually didn't find.

The red (with white stripe) wire was not connected to anything. It seems like, as the OP posted, something is MiA.
Given the position of where the red wire is my guess is whatever is MiA was in the square hole - is that correct?
Is this a common problem?

Does anyone have a pic of what I should be seeing here? I would like to see what it should look like b/4 I start pulling things apart.

Thanks all.

No photo but I did just put that back together a little bit ago. It was routed out the upper hole but I don't recall any moe details how it was retained. You have to remove the wheel to get access to the plunger and wiper/ring. But i didnt feel like wrestling my wheel off so i will stick to shouting out the window for awhile longer.

The day my horn worked intermittently on my 86 is the day the steering wheel came off in a slow corner

I was surprised it has worked at all considering the wire wasn't connected to anything.
Around here shouting out the window could get me shot.
