Did you purchase a harness to hook up your head unit to the truck harness? That should make it a painless install

no there is no factory harness. someone cut the wires. it was like that when i got the truck so i have to find everything first and then hook it up.

Run your own wires is the best answer. I did that on my '85, adding a fuse block at the battery and use a decicated power and ground wire back for radios, CBs, etc. Keeps the power (and sound) nice and clean. Otherwise, you can pull switched power off of the back of the cig. lighter and constant power off of the dome light circuit or similar.
