Head Gasket Tips?

First Off Im Sorry For The All Caps< My Computer Seems To Be Stuck On "shift" (mods Feel Free To Change Everything To Lower Case)


My Question: Does Anyone Have Tips On How To Remove The Reminants Of The Head Gasket From The Block>

hey it looks like my all caps was changed ^ haha that was weird my computer was stuck on caps and now its not..?

do you pick a gasket scraper up at the parts store or what?

You can use a razor scraper too. Yes part stores usually cary these things. DO NOT use abrasives on any internal engine parts, the abrasive can get into oil passages and take out bearings!

Wire wheel maybe? Just keep a shop rag in the cylinders.

Angle grinder with buffing pads works great if you have a compressor. Be very careful if you use a razor blade, you don't want to nick the head or block AT ALL. If you do, you need to clean it up with a buffer pad or at least a scotch brite pad until its smooth.

Get some Permatex gasket remover from your parts store. You spray it on and wait a few minutes and the gaskets remnants come off like nothing with a scraper.

got a shopvac for that! thanks guys i just put the head and intake manifold on tonight everything is going well
