Got The Comp Cam In. Now For Header

Finally got my comp cam in on my 85 truck carb.! I can see some power improvement now, even at higher rpms. I had the head redone with new seals and new valves, water pump, timing chain, but now I have one other problem, Exhaust manifold is leaking, Was going to do the header shortly after but fear it won't wait. It is so loud, I can't hear anything else I used the gasket from the head set from Felpro. Dosen't look like a very good one, cardboard. I have took it off and replaced but still leaks at a different place now! Anyone have any suggestions on a good header that bolts up to stock with no mods? Thanks in advance.

well, got a hooker header and have installed it with high flow cat and 40 series 2 chamber flowmaster with 2 1/2" pipe throughout. Can see a difference after the cam in and now even more after the header. Does not sound like a four banger at all! Hooker header went on without a hitch, just the right amount of clearance and everything lined up perfect. Cut the three bolt flange and welded straight to it. I know that would void warranty, put don't want a leak with the gasket. 2 1/2" hight flow cat, old one was no seeing daylight through. Any one used any aftermarket ignitions?

nope. i think thorley is a tri-Y. LCE tubes all come in to the same merge collector. both are top rated. i have 2 different LCE headers on 2 different toy 4bangers, they rock well.

mud toy, if you are looking for more juice from your 22re, also consider late model (88+ i think) ported/polished throttle body and intake plenum. from what i've read, they are good upgrades. LCE product again, and DOA racing too. may help balance out the intake with all your exhaust mods. the let us know how well they work
