go efi or sell

I need some opinions I put my truck up on craig's list 1984 pickup 22r
5 speed 4.88s 32x11.50s 3 inch pro comp sl 143.000 miles. 4.000 or trade for an 85 4runner but I haven't had any bites at all I mean nothing. The hole piont is to get a 4runner so I have room for my kids and wife and if I'm giong to do that I might as well try to find one with efi rite. or the other option if course is to keep my truck and do an efi swap what would be eazier the swap or finding the runner I want.

Just go put a weber on it! They are easy to install and they add a lot to the truck and increase mileage as well. If you do that then put new exhaust on it you'll notice a big difference.

i put a 32/36 weber on mine and love the thing.

That sucks. I think efi may be the best bet, but good luck finding an 85 efi. That's a pretty tough one, especially where I live.

I don't know if you know what you are in for with the EFI conversion. There is a big difference between reading about it and doing it. Just all of the wiring...and replacing parts...all of the unexpected parts. It is a nightmare. I'm not trying to discourage you, I'm just trying to tell you that you should make sure and do all of your research and find a good parts 4runner to tear all of your parts off. Good luck if you go for it!

$4000 is a pretty high price for an 84, more like $2200, but as far as efi. there are everywhere, bascially just swapping parts. can be done as cheap as $200. the major parts will be gas tank and fuel pump. But it easy

I dont see how converting your pick up to efi will give you any more room for the family, lower your price and get an efi 4runner...

Well what I meant was if I don't get what I want meaning an 85 runner then should I just go for brook on my truck since I am going to keep it anyways. and what kind of price should I ask for my truck with all I have in it I feel like I'm cheating myself especialy with verything being so new tires ,gears and lift and man I'm telling you the interior is absolutley perfect. if anyone out there knows where I can find an 85 runner even stock but close to here neer fresno ca please let me know.

I went through a very similar process. I had an '83 pickup, which is pretty darn rare here in FL. I loved the look of it, loved driving it...but 2 things really tore me up. 1. The cab was very very cramped for me, I'm 6'3" and just could not get comfortable driving that thing, and 2. The carb sucked, yes it was simple, but to me EFI is the way to go. My brother was getting rid of his 88 4Runner, so I went round and round trying to figure out if I should buy it for the room and the EFI and in the end I bought it and sold my 83 ($2500 by the way). I swapped the tires over and my front bumper and winch. I have never regretted the decision one bit.

im in a similar situation, i chose to put mine up for sale or trade for a 4runner, except ill take any 1st gen 4runner with a 22re ad a 5spd and my truck more built and im asking less money. im also in california, and ive had lots of bites.

i think your problem is your price and that there arnt many 85 4runners left.
