Fix It Up Or Part It Out? Thoughts?

I do, I'm wondering what I should do about the current 4Runner I have.Well, I found an '85 Toyota pickup that I'm planning on picking up here in a couple days, however, before I do that, I wanted to get some feedback.

It has about $2,000 in damage to it, but a lot of salvageable parts. I'm thinking of swapping a lot of the parts in the 4Runner into the "new" truck, and selling the rest, but I'm kind of torn on this, swapping out a lot of those parts is well beyond my skill level as of yet.

What do you all think? I could fix it with the insurance money, or keep it, use parts on the "new" truck, and part it out the rest?

Thoughts?

FYI, the truck I'm close to getting it a 22RET (going to look at the turbo thoroughly before purchasing don't worry) and it's really clean, inside and out. I'll post more later, class it out.

Any excuse to ditch the grocery getter, or the soccer mobile for a pickup is worth it. Get the 85. Flame on...ahhhhhhh.

Lol, have you seen the thread with my 4Runner? It's not even close to a grocery getter or a soccer mobile...

well if i was you man i'd buy the p/u and keep it as a daily driver, then mend the runner up to where its driveable again and use it as a wheeling rig. hehe

Lol, I'll get some when I go look at it tomorrow. The 22RET has a lot more power above 3000RPM from what I've heard, and they're reliable engines if preventative maintenance is kept up, as well as keeping an eye out for oil leaks and the like.

Post some pics of the damage to the runner. Short of a totaled frame these trucks are very easy to re-build.

Your 4runner was pretty bad ass, definitely worth fixing if you can. The 22ret isn't all that great either

The turbo thing is pretty cool... I'll be oen to admit that. But it really doesn't do you any good for offroading (other than baja and mud bogging perhaps). The turbo doesn't even kick in the boopst fully until higher revs start in (as mentioned before).

You'd be suprised just how resourceful one can get. I say... if the frame is good, then get off your ass and fix the body damage! Ok, lol. I'm not beign a dick, that was supposed to be funny. But I AM serious about salvaging the 4Runner. If its THAT bad, make some friends and do a body swap.

Collect the insurance money and use half or less to fix it. Use the other half on improvements for offroading. Or don't use it at all and buy a supercharger from LC Engineering! I'm sorry... that's way cooler than a factory turbo. And that's FACT.
