First Gen 4runner Rear Window Regulator Malfunction

I know there is a ton of info out there on this. But most applies to the electrical system.

I finally got my rear window working, but when the window goes down, it goes down crooked - and I need to get out - straighten the glass a couple times on the way down. It goes up fine.

But from what I have read this appears to be a problem with stripped teeth on the rear window regulator.

Is there a writeup on how to fix this regulator issue? Can I repair the side that is slipping or will I have to replace the whole unit? Thanks.

If the teeth were stipped on the regulator, the window would not go up or down,it would stop in the same place each time.I agree with DaHos that the window jumped out of the track.

Welcome to YT. If you don't have the same problem, you can start a new thread...... If you searched first and yielded no results.

Have you pulled the regulator out? Download an FSM or a chiltons. They have directions on how to get it out. If the PO replaced the motor in there, they could have not aligned the teeth properly, making your arms diff height. Pull it out of there and check it before you pony up for a new one. Craigslist and eBay are places to find used ones, plus various parts places like Nix99
