Exhaust System...

I have a 85 4runner EFI with a stock exhaust.. I've seen the write-ups for 2.25 inch exhaust replacements.. So i should look for 2.25 cat, muffler and a header with a 2.25 inch exit? I've seen Doug Thorley seems to be the choice for the header and is there a particular header I need to use for a 2.25 inch pipe?.. I prefer a quiet vehicle with good performance, so what has everyone tried for the cat and muffler? Finally, Does the the cat and muffler have flaired ends to mate up with 2.25 exhaust pipe or do I need to be careful how I order these? Thx for the advice....

I just replaced my entire exhaust system with LCE products. The system was bolt on which made to whole process real simple, and attached to the stock hangers with out any problems. I used their 2.25 in header, cat, and muffler. All the pipe was 2.25 and had bolt on ends where everything meet. All the hardware was included. I did buy new urethane hangers from the autoparts store. As far as sound goes, I like what I hear, a little deep and throaty, not so rice burner mod sounding that the kids are doing today. I am very satisfied with the performance so far. I can not give you a complete review yet, I am using this week to compare to previous, but I have taken about 8 minutes of my 28 mile drive to work so far. I had trouble maintaining speed going up hills, but now I can hold 70 without any problems. What ever product you choose, you should be satisfied. If they say bolt on, it should be real easy to do.

I don't know your experience level but be real careful with the bolts that bolt your headers onto the head. You'll need to soak them with PB blaster for a week or so before taking the old header off and be real gentle when bolting the new on.

I'm only saying this because I messed up one bolt and it cost me a week and some cash as I had to pay someone to drill and tap the hole.
