EGR valve gasket?

So I just received my new EGR valve that I purchased from Toyota to solve my surging problem I have been diagnosing for months. Should I have a gasket for this? When I spoke to Toyota, there is the one gasket with two bolts, but they told me there was not one listed. (for the triangle shaped piece that attaches to the block) I did see one on the Napa website and a few others and I am not sure that this triangle shaped gasket is necessary or is year specific. Any thoughts?

I know if you purchase the Fram intake gasket for the 1985 22RE, the EGR portion is part of it. It can be separated from the intake portion if you just need the EGR gasket.

Sounds like I don't need it. Thank you all for your input. I am going to bolt it on my next day off. I hope it solves my problems.

On a 22re there are two egr gaskets one on the back of the plenum with two bolts and one on the lower intake with one nut and two bolts. The plenum egr gasket is sold by its self but the other one with three holes is part of the lower intake gasket but can be cut off and used by its self without replacing the whole lower intake gasket. You need a gasket do not install it without one.

This is the correct information. The gasket is part of the intake mainifold gasket. You do need a gasket...or you will be chasing down a vaccume leak...
