efi conversion help questions

efi conversion help questions

have 85 pickup with 22r that i blew up last week. was planning to convert to efi anyway so i have a 91 4runner with bad bottom end but everything else intact. i plan to take the complete electric sys inc computer and cab electrical. any alligators that i should know about?

You need the EFI gas tank with the e-fuel pump in it and the block off plate for the mechanical fuel pump's old location

THat would be the preferred way (I prefer stock parts). I have heard that you can retrofit Fords "E2000" fuel pump outside of the tank (like an inline pump. Then wire it in to the ignition switch. The only down fall is that if you crash... the pump won't know to shut off. A stock one supposedly does (this is by word of mouth).

Also keep the EFI distributor and (probably) the coil. EFI dizzy is electronically advanced and carbed is vacuum.

Also word through the grapevine is that when EFI came out, so did the birth of alternators with integrated voltage regulators. Again I haven't discovered this myself, that bit is strictly by word of mouth... or forum.
