Does this look right?

This doesn't seem like it fits right. What do you think? Does your 89 4runner look like this? Thanks.

I'm talking about the fit (or lack of fit) above the seat belt. Seems like a lousy fit.

i don't have a 1st gen, but from the looks of it, the panel that is behind the seat belt, the top of that needs to be underneath/behind the ceiling panel.

Does anybody with a 1st generation have a pic they could post of this area? The steel thing sticking up doesn't look right.

well, I cant post a pic right now, but I went out and looked...mine is the same except for the metal flange...not sure how it all goes together, but seems like the metal should be behind the headliner.

From: 100 miles offshore as much as possible, & Springfield Oregon USA
The bracket should be behind the headliner and it should be attached.
Here's how it should look-
