Different types of Engines, pros and cons

alright, i dont know if toyota even has anything like this so it might not be exactly truck related, but i just wanted to know what other kinds of engines there are, like a straight 6, or staggered or what, i dont know very much about this stuff or about even whats out there, so thats why im asking, what are some pros and cons to engines such as a straight 6 or staggered *or even other ones i dont know of @_@* any help would be awesome, and thanks.

I've been looking into diesel swaps, not an awful lot of popularity there, 4.3 chev V6 is hands down the most popular swap, abundantly available engine.

Well ya got your rotary engines (a la Mazda) turbines (jets) and your piston engines.
In piston land you have single cylinder, radial, horizontally opposed like a VW or subaru, Inlines, V's of various angles. offset chrankshaft inlines.

For you, I would recommend a horizontally opposed 4 cylinder engine with no exhaust system in a rusty subaru stationwagon. Less likely to be stolen in Yakima.
