Crazy issues!
#1
So I have an 84 pickup with the 22r. I recently took it on a 1300 mile camping trip and it ran flawlessly the whole trip. I get it home and I am hit with all of these issues. To start one of the gaskets in the carb tore for whatever reason and it was having trouble idling, So I took it apart and put a new gasket in it (stock carb). The new gasket helped with the issue but didn’t completely fix it. I went a head and changed spark plugs too. Now it runs and idles like it should. But the issue that I can’t figure out now is I will be driving down the road or interstate and it will make multiple huge backfires. Doesn’t matter what gear or rpm. I took my cap and rotor off and they looked a little worn so I replaced them but didn’t fix anything. I guess I just need help figuring out if it’s a fuel or spark issue. Any advice is helpful!
