cracked downpipes?

about 6 months ago the stock exhaust broke off my 85 , right after the bolts for the downpipe. i took it to a muffler guy and he cleaned up the welds (shoddy to say the least) and put a magnaflow high flow cat and muffler AND THE DAMN THING BROKE OFF AGAIN!!. toyota wants 600$ bucks for a new one.. does anyone have a few old (but in good shape) exhaust parts they can spare.. all im looking for is a downpipe and maybe the manifold that it ties into

willing to spend a couple hundred if needed

help me out! thanks

If yes, I had a crack on that part years ago too. The shop I went to suggested against welding because they just get too brittle over time with all the heat and constant expansion/contraction to hold up very well. So don't blame your welder too much. Would have been nice though if they would have mentioned that up front so you didn't have to throw good money after bad.

are you kidding ??? I just had the same thing happen .. towing my hotrod , and the stock header pipe finally "gave up the ghost"

I checked all aftermarket suppliers , and finally went with the dealer unit .. It was a little more .. $217.00 FULL RETAIL .. (not my cost) but it was a PERFECT fit , and it even had a heat shield on it .
