cold start

cold start

when i start my truck from a cold start. it will bogg for a second, and almost die, then it will start. does any of your trucks do this? is there anything i can do to improve it

When I start I let it idle for a few seconds, then I put the revs between 2500-3000rpm for about 30-45 seconds, usually gets everything rolling well.

fuel filter or electric choke. Make sure you have good fuel pressure right before it enters the carb to test for that.

check the voltage of the wire that goes into the electric choke. I believe it should be 12. The one on my truck was 3v and that is probably why I had to talk sweet to it every morning so that it would start. lol.

Your cold start injector could need cleaned. I'd check that and maybe the temp switch thats below the throttle body. Use the FSM or haynes or online service manuals. They should have checks for cold start issues...
