Changing oil

I'm flushing the engine and cleaning out the oil pan gasket while I do an oil change.

Should I change the oil pump? - pump is working efficiently 30-40 psi.

Should I change the rod bearings? - no knocks or ticks in motor

I'm open to suggestions, I don't want to open this up again for awhile.

Should I use cork gasket and a fine line of RTV copper or ???

Thanks guys.

So do people use RTV copper or do they use the gasket or both ?

I don't know how well cork gasket will hold up on it's own.

well, I'm not quite sure how a 22r is set up, but replacing the oil pump is gonna be a bunch of extra work. If resealing the oil pan is what you want to do, I would just do that and if the oil pump or rod bearings cause you trouble down the road, well, it's not like dropping the pan again is tough work. On the other hand, if you really don't wanna open her up for a long time, then I would go ahead and replace at least the oil pump, since at 261k, she's probably checking in to the senior home right about now. As for the oil pan gasket, just use the toyota fipg gasket maker. Don't bother with a cork gasket, there's a reason toyota didn't put one in there from the factory.

I believe so. You can also order online form 1sttoyotaparts.com for a like 30% off dealer prices, but shippings 10 bucks.

Felpro makes a good FIPG.

I think the FSM has specs for the oil pump to see if it worn out.
