I just put the 22r together after new pistons and bore plus head rebuilt with all.. ya... anyway I got this new shnider camshaft and installed it and reused my old rocker assembly. It ate #3 cyl exhaust lobe off.
I'm going to get a new rocker arm assembly and cam now...
Any advice on the second go at this?

other than breaking in with rotella, im not sure. i have heard that cams and rockers should be replace together, but i have a friend that put a 261c in his with the old rockers and it was fine. how many miles did it take to eat it up? could it be a flawed casting process or a bad regrind that went through the hardened metal to the softer underneath?

 

I put just less than 1,000 miles on it to get to this point.
I used Rotella oil the entire time, always have...
The cam should have been new. I dont think it was a re-grid. Its a Shnider camshaft purchased from NorthWest Off-Road.
I used their supplied camshaft assembly lube/wax.

 

I want to find a moderate cam with matching springs and a new rocker arm assembly, but dont know where to look...

 

I talked with the guys at shnider cams and they said they can sell me another cam and matching spring set then all I need to do is get a new rocker arm assembly. It would be nice if they give me a discount on a new cam
