Ca 22re gurus!

Need some help. Trying to land a deal on an 85 4Runner.
Guy said it doesn't pass smog cause it's got some of the equipment missing. I'm buying this for my lady so I don't want it to be a lemon to her.
I see the egr has temp sensor isn't hooked up to anything, it's missing some vacuum switches, and lines seem off. Anyone see anything else missing for smog here in ca? Besides the intake isn't legal.

Here's some pics. I'd appreciate some help.

I'm no guru but since no one else posted I'll give my input. Obviously the pcv valve doesn't look right, for some reason the dash pot has a long vacuum hose going somewhere, that's wrong. Is there an egr valve and modulator? Another thing that's strange is that air injection tubing on the exhaust manifold, as far as I know that would only be on carbed models in Ca. 85-87?, I don't think it was until 88 that that crap was put on the efi motors.

I dont see a fan shroud. Not sure if that would fail emissions.

That won't matter.

Not trying to nit pick but I failed smog when I lived in California as I was missing the heat shield on the exhaust manifold. But it did have a riser that run to the carb. Also would the air filter you have installed fail you? I just noticed those two items.

On a carbed motor that a tube from the exhaust(heat shield) to air cleaner needs to be hooked up and functioning to pass. That setup isn't used on efi. That cold air(hot air) intake on there would have to be labeled somewhere if it's smog legal. I'm not familiar with the aftermarket smog legal filter kits or if any even exist.

If you have access to an emissions diagram for an 85 efi that should show almost everything that the smog tech would be looking for. Of coarse it should all be functioning too. They also check the evap system, timing and the check engine light needs to function with no codes. And of coarse the tail pipe reading.

I just noticed that the radiator sits crooked like mine, mine had taken some damage on the passenger side at some point, I wonder if that one has too.

there is some weirdness with the afm, and the intake tube going to the throttle body isn't positioned right... i wonder if some of those parts are off of a celica or a supra?

you don't want to leave that intake elbow rubbing against the upper radiator hose.

the green connector coming off of the egr, behind the intake manifold, hooks up to an exhaust gas temp sender, it's from a later model 22re... what i did with that on mine was to unscrew the temp sender, and plug it with a short bolt... that way the smog guys won't think that it's supposed to be hooked up.

when you take it down to get smogged, have 'em test it without the smog machine talking to sacramento... you'll still have to pay nearly full price, as a seperate test, but that way it won't get labeled as a gross polluter.

a lot of the right stuff is there, it's even got the idle-up vacuum hoses for the power steering? fix the intake mess, lets see what happens.
