Birfield Joint

I've got some "clicking" going on in my front end when I turn. I'm thinking something's wrong with my birfield joint. Are these impossible to fix? Should I just get a conversion kit and go to u joints?

Only way to find out what the problem is to determine what side of the axle the noise is coming from and take it apart. Could be your bearings.

A broken birf can't be fixed, really, just replaced. I guess an expert like Bobby Long could fix it but its cheaper to buy a new unit.

Don't convert your birfield joints to Dana type U joints. Its an expensive conversion and proven to be a weaker design. Upgrade to Longfields. They are stronger than stock and have a lifetime warranty.

Search pirate4x4.com for mega birfield info...

X2 dont convert. First like said find the problem side. Raise the tire and shake it. Could be bad wheel bearings maybe? If you want the best upgrade go with longs even the 27 spline are better than stock. 30s would be unstopable

did you break it?

If so....dont drive it on the street or you might not be able to turn...

probably just a wasted trunion bearing or something....no way to know unless you tear it down

X2 on everyone that has said to rebuild the front axle. I had a birfield click really bad on my 84 4Runner. Did one run with it and replaced it with 30 Spline Longfields. I noticed you're in CO, where at?? I've got a spare set of stock birfields for cheap if you need them.
