Another TPS thread
89 22re automatic 2WD
I have spent months tinkering with the TPS on my 22re Engine. I read the threads, bought the multimeter, got allen head screws from ACE Hardware. I set it as best as I could. Being a noob when I changed my TPS I threw the original toyota one away and went to Oreilly to buy a new one. Now I know better and I keep all my old parts for reference, and now I know TPS can be cleaned. TO LATE NOW.
I ordered both TPS for my vehicle 20050 and 14050. 20050 has the ears inline with the screw holes. 14050 has the ears perpendicular to the screw holes.
It seems BOTH sensors do not fit the throttle body blades. The fins coming out of the throttle body blades are set wider than the notches in the sensor ears. I don't understand, do I have the wrong TB blades?

It's possible to put the tps on the wrong side of the the tabs, IE the throttle doesn't move the tps, from your description it sound like the case. It moves in a clockwise direction, while facing the throttle body. Aim the plug at about 11 and rotate it counterclockwise, you should be able to feel the spring tension when they come together.

MEANT TO POST IN 86-95, can I get a transfer?
That is exactly how I did install it. I turn the TPS a little before sliding it between the blade of the TB to make sure as the blades turn it turns the TPS ears. I thought this was the wrong way after taking a closer look and reading about someone getting the blades to dig into the TPS notch pictured below.
My TB blades are vertical when the throttle is closed. So I am assuming my TB is the one on the right because the screw holes are also vertically positioned. For some reason none of the readings seem correct and that's why I believe I have the wrong TPS. Time to break out the MultiMeter again.
