TPS confusion

So, I took my TPS off today so I could adjust it and see if it helped with my idle and hesitation issues. This was at 10 a.m and it's now 2 p.m. Why so long, because I have no idea what to do now. I've spent the past hour and a half or so looking online at the 4crawler TPS adjustment page as well as http://personal.utulsa.edu/~nathan-b...93throttle.pdf and just browsing other posts about the TPS but am still confused.

The way that my TPS is installed doesn't turn the butterfly valve when you move the TPS. But then I take it off and reinstall it and it will move the butterfly valve. Which way is it supposed to be?

The TPS is supposed to move when the throttle is opened, if its not then its either not installed properly or adjusted properly.

I don't know if I worded it correctly. I could install the TPS in 2 different ways. 1 in which if I moved the TPS with my fingers it would move back and forth with just a little resistance, kind of felt like a spring tension. The 2nd being if I remove the TPS and reposition it, I could move the TPS forward and backward and the throttle valve would move with it. Does that make sense? One way the throttle valve would move while the TPS was being moved and the other way only the TPS would move when I moved it.

install it in the position that u feel the spring resistance... the tps should not move the butterfly.

the butterfly moves the tps and then the tps sends a signal to the computer.

edit:: you shouldnt of had to take it off to adjust it either ?

Ok, thats the way I put it back on. I took the screws out to replace them and it fell off when I did that so that's why it came off to begin with.

The throttle moves the throttle position sensor... otherwise, the throttle position sensor wouldn't sense the throttle position, would it?

That makes sense too but that is not the way it was installed before I took it off.
