another blown diff...

ive now blown 2 rear diffs in about 2 weeks. this is right after my tranny and tcase swap. first diff a tooth off the ring chipped and somehow made the pinion grind on the carriring case. the second i had laying around and was welded. i went wheeling yesterday and i think a weld broke, but it broke through my axle.. now im on the search for a new set of 3rds. what cold be causing this? or is it just a coincidence?

When a weld breaks on a Lincoln locked diff, all kinds of bad things happen.

My vote, coincidence. Or the housing wasn't completely cleaned out when you swapped the broken toothed 3rd for the "new" one.

Is your pinion angle raised up from stock from a lift?, If so try parking it on a hill to point the snout down and add more oil to the housing. If you just fill to the filler hole w a raised pinion on level ground the pinion bearings can get less lube and fail alot sooner than normal.
