Another 4runner rear window problem

I know this problem has been discussed alot, and half of the 4runner owners out there have dealt with it. But my rear window decided to quit working... Im horrible with electrical an i just need someone to tell me how to jump my rear window. I just want to figure out if my problem is with the switch or the motor. Thanks guys

You would have to run 12 volt power directly to the motor to see if it will work or not.

So using a car battery and jumper cables? Can i do that with the motor still in the gate or do i have to remove the motor?

Unplug the motor, grab a battery or jump box and two wires maybe some alligator clips. Connect to the pos and neg on the battery then to the two prongs on the plug. If the motor goes up or down, motor is good.. this of course has to be doon with the gate shut...If you get the window down, leave it so you can open the gate and work on it.

Well what I would do it pull off the back cover and look at the engine. See if there is any visible damage to any of the components. Then asses from there. If you seem that everything is nominal then try running a car battery to it to see if it activates. I dont suggest jumper cables as they might be to big for it. Try some like 20 gauge wire or something like that

Hope that helped.

x2. I actually ran wires from the battery(you know, left over from years of electrical projects I never got too) thru the pass door, over the rear seats and into the back. I got the rear window down, fixed that stupid switch in the tailgate and then realized I had a jump box in the garage...
