Ok well I have had my runner a while now and recently I changed the timing. It ran well for a while. Until last night I was driving through some brush and it stalled. It wont stay running at an idle. I tried adjusting the timing to no difference. I pulled the plugs one at a time and the #6 cylinder isn't fireing. Changed plugs wires cleaned points and still no difference. Its not a head gasket. It also backfires and spits black soot out of the tailpipe. The check engine light just came on this morning as well. any thoughts please help.

 

the number 6 cyl is dead. sound like the valve is burt. do a compression test and I'm sure there will be little to none.
