85 Turbo Gas SR5 PU 2X2

Does anyone know why most places ( forums, parts houses, etc. ) do not list the 85 model year as having a gas turbo model?

On the same subject: someone from this forum who has a gas turbo Toy PU told me that the radiator has a connection that goes to the turbo. This truck has been in the family since new and the radiator was rebuilt once and i took the radiator out and reinstalled it. There wasn't any hose from the radiator to the turbo.
So if the 85 is the only model without such a connection how difficult would it be to put one in and would it be worth the effort?

From what I know, the turbo wasn't offered in '85!

Can you elabor8 some or point me to a picture?

Isn't it possible that the 85 didn't have it? i know that Volvo didn't add an inter cooler until a year or two after it was introduced.

The user manual on my truck talks about letting the PU idle a minute or so before turning it off.

I can get you a pic of the rad only .. it is the front side , on the otherside , top tank , there is a tube (you can see the tube zap straped on the mount flange) it is threaded to fit into the top , front of the tank ..

this rad is going into my toyota Trekker with a 3.4L .. so I can't supply you with a pic of it in an /85 vintage .

Even if I could find a radiator from a later model how would I connect it if the earlier turbo doesn't have a place to connect it to? and my guess would be the channeling for the coolant would be missing as well?

23 years and still running...maybe I should leave well enough alone.

Thanks for the picture...good luck with your Trekker!

just block it off ..

I'm not going to be running a turbo , but a supercharger in mine .. so I wont be needing the "port" for the cooling .. I will be using a "block" plug , and sealing the hole ..

So here's the bottom line for me and my turbo: The radiator is either leaking slowly which would be the better of these two scenario's or the fluid is getting "slowly" sucked into the cylinder head because every month or two the radiator needs fluid.
There is no doubt that there is scale inside the core but it never overheats and there is no coolant in the oil.

The last time i had a problem with the radiator i had it rebuilt; that was 13 years ago and for about four of those years the truck sat with the radiator drained.

No i have a choice of three radiators none of which have that extra turbo connection: 1 is a wide one core aluminum radiator 2 is a large one core brass radiator and 3 is a 3 core radiator which is obviously the same thickness as the others so i'm guessing that each core is thinner. Either that or i don't understand the engineering of it all.

So the question is which one is best?
