85 TOYOTA possible purchase

A co-worker of mine is selling his 85 toyota 4x4 truck for $200. He said has a blown headgasket. I'm thinking of buying it, but is it worth it? Do I have to take the heads to a shop? Replace all the headbolts? etc..

So if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

is it a V6 ??
if so that 3.0 may have experienced the common 3.0 problems like eating headgaskets
if it is the v6, body in good condition, yada yada, i would take it, yes take the heads to a shop to be resurrfaced, and i believe you would need to use diff headbolts

Hell, any Toyota for $200 is a steal, assuming it isn't rusted all over, and will still run.
I don't think they had the v6 back in '85. If so, then you will have an easier job replacing that. Yeah, you gotta do all the work you just listed...

v6 started in 88

sight unseen, i'd buy it for 200 no matter the condition

It would still be a deal at $1000 in my opinion, as long as it's not a rust bucket.

It is also a good deal because it has the last north american Toyota SFA. so it would be a good trail rig or parts for future SAS jobs.

Uh, Yea, if all it needs is a head gasket, it's a steal at $200. Even if the body is only fair it is worth it.

get it, great deal. Hard to find one for so cheap. I have seen 4runners go for 1000 with blown head gaskets.
